Telefone sem Fio (2024)
A instalação Telefone sem Fio (2024) traz uma combinação de elementos visuais e sonoros para abordar temas que me interessam, como poder, comunicação e vigilância. O centro da instalação é esse desenho em carvão de um helicóptero, que aparece dentro de dois círculos. Usei o carvão como uma forma de reforçar o contraste e a força da imagem no espaço, criando uma textura crua e direta, algo que dialoga bem com a sensação de observação constante.
Ao lado direto, instalei um poste simples com um megafone no topo e dois alto faltantes, que conectam a uma caixa iluminada por fios que se espalham até a base. Esses fios ajudam a fragmentar a visão para embolar o entendimento de onde sai o som. Temos muito potencial de interferências nessas fiações.
O som em si também é uma parte essencial da obra. Ao entrar na instalação somos tomados por um barulho de chuva constante e ininterrupto. Após certo tempo, três toques de um sinal escolar nos avisam que algo se aproxima. Ao todo são 60 segundos de helicóptero dentro do museu ou galeria. Esse trabalho trata da comunicação como um processo que pode se alterar e mudar seu sentido ao longo do caminho.
The installation Telefone sem Fio (Bronken Telephone) (2024) brings a combination of visual and sound elements to address themes that interest me, such as power, communication, and surveillance. The centerpiece of the installation is a charcoal drawing of a helicopter, placed within two circles. I used charcoal to reinforce the contrast and intensity of the image in the space, creating a raw and direct texture that aligns with the feeling of constant observation.
To the right, I installed a simple post with a megaphone on top and two loudspeakers, connected to an illuminated box by wires that spread out to the base. These wires help fragment the vision, confusing the understanding of where the sound comes from. There’s significant potential for interference in these connections.
The sound itself is also an essential part of the work. As you enter the installation, you're enveloped by the sound of continuous, uninterrupted rain. After a while, three rings of a school bell signal that something is approaching. In total, there are 60 seconds of helicopter sounds inside the museum or gallery. This work explores communication as a process that can be altered and change its meaning along the way.
